Tatjana Panyoczki

Tatjana grew up in Switzerland where she trained as a wig designer and make-up artist for theatre and film. In the early 1990s she worked as a freelance make-up artist in film, theatre and television before marrying painter Peter Panyoczki and moving to New Zealand in 1993. Since 1999 Tatjana and her family have lived in Northland.

Tatjana completed a diploma at UNITEC in 3D design, majoring in Jewellery under tutor Pauline Bern. A love affair with metal began and the preciousness of combining non -traditional materials. Simple forms and texture are key factors in her work. Observing the way things meet, join and how they relate to each other is an important source of her inspiration.

Her work looks at discussions with utilitarian objects out of context, exploring new ways to express ideas. For example her Preserve set, bangles that juxtapose orange rubber jar seals with perspex in varying combinations of colours to make sets that are modern and contemporary.

Tatjana exhibits regularly in New Zealand, Australia and Europe.
